The original Home and Home Mini speakers have finally won (via Android Police) the ability to pair a second smart speaker for stereo sound and a wider sound stage. Google first deployed this feature on Home Max, and then added support for smart wizard support that is compatible with the Insignia wizard. The company’s new Mini Mini Smart Speaker offers immediate support for the feature.
To set up a pair, you need to open the Google Home app on your phone, and then tap one of the speakers you want to pair. Then tap settings and look for the “pair of speakers” option. You can then choose the speaker that you want to pair and also assign a left and right channel. Once you have completed the pairing process, you can use the paired speakers as one.
However, when you pair two speakers, Google Assistant is disabled on the right speaker and answers only on the left speaker. If you want the wizard to be enabled on the right speaker, you will need to unpair the speakers.
Once the speakers are ungrouped, you can use Wizard on both. You can also add a pair of speakers to a larger speaker group from the settings in the Google Home app. Twin speakers act as a single device when added to a larger group.
